How can I become a cold dismantler?
Refrigeration fitters install and perform maintenance on all types of refrigeration systems. Refrigeration systems are found everywhere in society, including in stores, hotels, office buildings, ice rinks, gas tankers, cruise ships and hospitals.
As a refrigeration and heat pump installer, you will be able to master a wide range of tasks within interdisciplinary areas. Mechanics, electrical engineering, automation, plumbing and welding are just some of the areas you will receive training in if you choose the refrigeration and heat pump installer course.
Your workplace can be at home in your local environment, an oil platform, on a cruise ship in the Caribbean or deployed on a project in Africa. If you are a learner with practical skills, there are plenty of opportunities in this industry. Even if you are of the more theoretical variety, there is a need for engineers.
The field of study gives you the opportunity to work in many professions. Examples include fitter, technician, machinist, project manager, consultant, technical salesperson, product developer or energy advisor.
Study course
To become a refrigeration technician, you must first complete one year of electrical engineering (VG1 Electrical Engineering) or technology and industrial production (VG1 TIP). You can then apply for a degree in refrigeration and heating installation (VG2 Refrigeration). From here, the possibilities are many. Education within refrigeration and heat pump technology ranges from installer to master's degree.

Cold storage and wine room
Is it difficult to install a Thermocold cold room or wine room?
Both the cold rooms and the wine rooms from Thermocold are delivered flat-packed. The room itself is assembled using an Allen key. Glass doors and glass panels often require more tools and expertise. Thermocold has contacts with dealers and installers throughout the country that can be used if you need help.
How do I measure the temperature correctly in the cold room/wine room?
There is only one correct way to measure the temperature in a refrigerated room. You must measure the core temperature of the product. You do this by placing a thermometer in a glass of water.
Measurement in air can be variable and inaccurate.
What do I do when I want to order a custom cold room or wine room?
We have separate pages for both refrigeration and wine that tell you in detail how to order a custom-made cold room. Search for the page "Design your own..." and the process will begin.
We tailor both cold rooms and wine rooms together with you as the customer.
Tips and advice as well as drawings are available from Thermocold.
Send us a request in our contact form or talk to us at 69 10 24 00.
What temperature and humidity should be in a wine room?

Is it legal to sell/buy Thermocold's refrigerated corner and pantry?
Thermocold has decided to no longer sell our traditional refrigerated corner and tip chamber refrigerators as a standard product to private households due to the EU's new ecodesign regulations.
However, you can still purchase both refrigerated corner units and pantry units through our professional portal. These are intended as products adapted for industry.
I need a cold storage room for hunting. What do I need?
The most important thing is that the room is built correctly, and that the cooling unit is sized according to the use and the amount of meat that will be hanging there. It is not necessarily the volume of the room that is used as a starting point.
Thermocold has its own cold rooms that are designed for hunting and tenderizing meat.
Storing wine in a wine room, what do I need?
You need a room with a moisture barrier on the warm side, insulation and a properly sized cooling unit.
Thermocold delivers various solutions for storing wine in wine rooms that are adapted to the individual customer's wishes and needs. Thermocold's wine rooms are properly dimensioned and insulated wine rooms, which you can find more information about on our website.
What is the difference between a wine room, a wine wall, a wine staircase and a wine cellar?
Thermocold has defined four types of products in our series of wine rooms.
The traditional Wine Room is a "walk in" product intended for both long-term storage and short-term storage. The amount of glass and placement will determine how much of your collection you want to display.
The wine wall is a product that is designed to both display and store your wine. The wine wall is normally delivered in a depth of 60 to 80 cm.
The wine ladder is a special product adapted to sloping solutions under stairs.
The wine cellar is essentially a large wine room that is primarily designed for storing larger quantities of wine. However, it is quite possible to adapt it so that you can display all or part of your wine collection through glass walls and glass doors.
How much wine do I need to make a wine room?
There is nothing that says you have to have a lot of wine to be able to buy a wine room. The most important thing is that you want to take good care of the wine you have.
Wine rooms come in different sizes and shapes. In addition, you can arrange them so that you use different shelves depending on how many bottles you have. When creating a wine wall or a wine staircase, the primary desire is often to display the wine you have. In larger wine rooms and wine cellars, you can also arrange for the storage of many bottles.
Thermocold has several variations of standard wine rooms/wine walls that are suitable for smaller gatherings. In addition, you can help design your own custom wine room.
Buy Cooling units and air conditioners
I want to buy a new cooling unit to replace the one I have, but the old one has different dimensions. What do I do?
It is quite possible to replace your old unit with a new one from Thermocold. Thermocold makes several so-called "Flex" units that are adapted to light openings from other units that have been on the market. You can thus replace the old unit with a new one from Thermocold without having to change the entire room or make major changes to the light opening.
On the Thermocold website you will see the different units we supply and get tips and advice on which unit you should choose.
What is a split unit?
Split is a two-part refrigeration unit that makes it possible to place the cooling part in the cold room and the compressor part outside or in a basement.
Remember, here the pipes must be laid between the cooling section and the compressor section. This must be carried out by a professional.
What is the difference between a wine cooler and an air conditioner?
There are basically two different terms for the same type of product.
At Thermocold, we have chosen to create compact wine chillers that are designed to function in wine rooms up to 15 m3. They are designed to maintain a consistent temperature of 12-14 degrees.
If you need a solution for an even larger wine room, we have chosen to use so-called climate coolers from WinMaster in France. They are based on the same principles but are designed to maintain a consistent temperature in large rooms up to 100m3.
I experience that the temperature in the refrigerator or wine room varies, what do I do?
Place a thermometer in a glass of water to check the temperature of the product. The display on the refrigeration unit shows the so-called working temperature and may vary depending on how long and how often the door has been open.
In a cold room where the temperature is set to 4 degrees, the display will be able to show from 2 to 6.5 degrees without necessarily affecting the temperature of the goods.
In a wine room where the temperature is set to 12 degrees, you will similarly experience the display showing from 10 to 14 degrees. This does not have to affect the wine in the room.
If over time you experience that the temperature in the water glass varies, you should contact us via our contact form on the website or call us.
Is it much more expensive to have a custom-made cold room or wine room made than it is to buy a standard one?
Thermocold is a specialist in producing custom cold rooms and wine rooms. It will naturally be more expensive to create a product that is unique to the individual customer, but Thermocold strives to ensure that the additional cost is as small as possible.
By utilizing our employees' cutting-edge expertise and some standard modules, we try to keep prices down.
Based on the different standard solutions, you will quickly be able to get a price estimate from one of our salespeople.
Is it safe to store wine in a wine room with lots of glass walls?
Thermocold's wine rooms are primarily designed to ensure that the wine is cared for in a safe and good way. Through the correct dimensioning of the unit/cooler, the wine room should be able to maintain the correct temperature regardless of whether it is made with multiple glass walls.
If you have a wine wall or wine room with a lot of glass that is exposed to a lot of sun or bright light, we recommend that you foil the glass surfaces with extra UV protection. This is done after the room has been installed. This does not have to make it more difficult to see your wine collection through the glass surfaces.
If you are considering long-term storage without the need to display parts of your wine collection, it may be worth reducing the number of glass surfaces. This primarily has to do with UV radiation.
Can I have cooling in a room that is placed under a staircase?
Yes, it is possible to create both a cold room and a wine room under a staircase.
The unit is placed in such a way that it ensures good cooling in the room and that the unit receives the necessary ventilation for both incoming and outgoing air.
